Christ living in us is what identifies us as Christians. I would challenge all of us to take the test mentioned in II Corinthians Living in Christ means all of the above. When Christ is in us, such a life is possible. Free at last! So how do we get saved? But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
The Believer is a new creation; one born of God. What was once true is no longer true. This does not teach passivity, sinless perfection, or the deification of man. Christians are the visible expression of the otherwise invisible God. We are His temples not made with hands. To write about the Christian Life is often a frightening proposition.
Instead of raising our hand and asking for a clarification, we nod-off in the middle of it and never dare to ask questions. I remember being at Baghdad University in Iraq in when a very liberal American woman preacher took to the podium and spewed hatred for the American way and boldly proclaimed to our Iraqi hosts the faculty of the university that the greatest problem back home for them was the Bible-thumping pastors in our churches.
There were several other pastors in this group and I waited a minute or two for one of them to respond. It became apparent that none of them would so I stood to my feet and strode to the recently vacated podium and presented the Gospel message and Christ crucified, buried and risen again as the truth that we Bible-thumping pastors clung to as we prayed and interceded for the people of Iraq.
I reminded them that Iraq was one of the main centers cited in the Old Testament and they were greatly privileged that God had chosen that region to begin civilization. I ended my thoughts by thanking them for their kindness and made them aware that we Bible-thumpers would continue asking the God of Heaven to bless them.
Later, several of the other pastors confided in me that they wished that they had the courage to do what I did and they were so glad I raised the banner of truth over the meeting. TO me it was what we must do in every similar situation, but to them it was an heroic deed. Yet for many, to question of a speaker is both rude and unspiritual. A friend of mine, Dr. David Needham, writes:. What is the Christian life? Is it that Christ is in Heaven and I am down here by myself, trying to live for Him? Is it doing my best to be good and asking the Lord Jesus to help me? No, it is none of these.
Being a Christian means that I have trusted Christ as my Savior. I have a new relationship with Him. This new relationship can be expressed in two simple sentences:. I am in Christ and Christ lives in me by His Spirit. As we think about these verses, where is the Lord at this very moment?
He is outside the Old Testament Believer, watching over him, guarding him, and helping him. But in the New Testament, we find that God comes to live in us. The Bible says,. To help us understand this new relationship between the Lord Jesus and the believer, Jesus used a picture from nature. The Lord Jesus is the Vine, and the believers are the branches. From the vine and the branches we can learn some wonderful truths about the Christian life. They share one life. The same life, the sap, that flows through the vine also flows through the branches.
We see from this that our union with Christ is a living union. We share one life. As we look at the vine and its branches, we see that the branch is in the vine. This teaches us that we are in Christ. We have already learned this great truth, that we are in Christ, but now we see that we are joined to Him in a living relationship.
We were not always in Christ. We were in Adam. We shared his life and we had his nature in us. What happened when we were saved? God took us out of Adam and put us into Christ. To graft a branch means to take it out of one vine and join it to another vine. The branch is cut away from the old vine.
Then a cut is made in the new vine, and the branch is fitted into this cut place and securely wrapped. Soon something wonderful happens. The life of the new vine begins to flow through the branch. The branch is now sharing the life of the new vine, and it begins to bear its fruit. From this we can see what a wonderful thing God did for us. We are now joined to the Lord Jesus in a living way.
He is our new Vine, and we are living branches in Him. We share His life. Not only is the branch in the vine, but the very life of the vine, the sap, is in the branch. This is what keeps the branch alive and causes it to bear fruit. This teaches us that not only are we in Christ, but Christ is in us. We have the very life of Christ in us. The secret of the Christian life is that Christ is my life.
Christ is not outside of me as my Helper; He lives in me. The apostle Paul said,. What is the secret? Everything I need is in the vine. I depend on the vine for everything. The Lord Jesus wants us to learn the lesson of the vine and the branches. Everything that we need is in Christand we have His life flowing in us.
The apostle Paul was one of the most victorious Christians who ever lived, and he has shared with us the secret of his victorious life. Paul said,. Read this verse out loud. Write this verse on a piece of paper and say it over and over until you have memorized it.
God put me in Christ on the cross. I died with Christ; that was the end of my old life. I am a new person in Christ. What happened when I became a Christian? He actually came to live in me. He lives in me right now! Nothing could be more wonderful. What is it? It is SELF! My biggest problem is SELF!
What is the solution to this problem? I agree with God. Christ is my Lord and my king! He shall rule in my life. A little girl named Carol had received Christ as her Savior when she was very young. When she was ten years old she longed to be a good Christian. Her father spent much time with her, teaching her from the Bible.
He showed her that the one way of victory over sin and SELF was by accepting our death with Christ and letting Christ live His life in us. Then Carol made her decision. It was a decision that changed her life forever. She wrote in her Bible:. I mean to live by His life, and for Him, all my life. Not I, but Christ.
Everything I need is in Christ. God tells me not to worry about anything. But Christ lives in me. He does for me what I cannot do for myself. I just count on Him to do it, and He does it. He is the faithful One! I have found the secret of living. It is counting on Christ who lives in me.
Perhaps I have a bad temper. I have tried for years to overcome it. Now I turn it over to Christ, the faithful One, who lives in me. He takes care of it, and it is gone. A little girl had learned to have victory over temptation. I have come to the wrong door. What if I fail? What should I do? I should confess my sin and put it under the precious blood of Christ. My old life ended with my death with Christ. Christ is my life and my victory now.
I do not want SELF to rule in my life any more. I am now putting my old life on the cross with You. From now on, it will be not I, but Christ living in me. Could there be a fullness, a depth to it all that we have missed as we sing our religious ditties and sleep through the pastors many words. If we are missing it during our dash between two dates, we face the prospect of entering in a Eternity unprepared and a spiritual formation time that can never be repeated.
You--we--still have time to grasp the awesome implications of these few years allotted since we are destined for the Throne of His Grace in the Heavens.
My Son Went to Heaven, and All I Got Was a No. 1 Best Seller
Instead we are tormented by thoughts of failure and the pain of guilt. We know the doctrines, we have memorized the steps, but we lack the substance of His Word for daily living and the power to tell the truth to those who fill our lives. A chill runs through our veins and a dryness fills up our mouths when we attempt such major events. The path to the altar at the front of the church is well-worn by the footprints of the downtrodden saints who have yet to resolve their spiritual doubts once and for all. When we do, we soon find that the dreadful thing we call the sin nature does not exist or have its roots in the Scriptures.
It is found only one time in Ephesians How foolish we are to express our sinfulness over the fact that we have become saints of God. By doing so, it violates every conceivable fact that the nature of every Blood-washed saint is one of sin instead of His Resurrection Life. I am resolved and want know Him intimately and the miraculous power of His Resurrection and to partake in fellowship of His suffering, His pain, His damaged emotions and His hardships, so I can be jointly form with Him in His death.
Well, He Does! But if the Spirit of him who made Jesus come again from the dead dwells in your formerly dead spirit, he who made Christ Jesus come again from the dead will in the same way, through his Spirit which is in you, give His Life to your human bodies which now are under the power of death. Though deep within our being there remains many doubts and fears, there still remains a rest for the people of God and a destiny that is so revolutionary that once embarked upon we come to realize that the indwelling Holy Spirit is far greater than my puny needs.
Because of their conclusions, these men and women of God were alive as no humans before them understood aliveness. They somehow knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were not only spectators, but willing participants and a whole new spiritual species that never existence before in time and space.
But now, a whole species of Spirit-indwelled beings began if fill the cities and towns throughout the Creation. This revolutionary spiritual beings began to dot the countryside with wisdom from above, understanding into the ancient Scriptures and display total obedience to the voice of God. Today, as we acquaint ourselves with God, we soon discover experientially that Life Eternal--His Life--was available all the time even though we could find it until we yielded the members of our bodies as instruments of His Righteousness.
Because of their conclusions, the men and women of God in the early Church were alive as no humans before them. They somehow knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were not only spectators, but willing participants and they were a whole new spiritual species that never existence before in time and space. I thought of two new doctrines for the church. Now before you label me a heretic, consider this. However, you can tell of the Episcopalian Church of England influence expressed in the King James Bible because the translators frequently translated en or in as with.
But He who comes after me The word with means going along in the same direction or accompanied along side. Built within every human is a desire to know more, especially when it comes to important the issues of our lives. If we were the cancer patient, we would ask countless questions seeking to get a better clarification of our situation.
At that point, words are very important. Yet when it comes to our spiritual lives we allow ourselves to accept in mere general terms the meaning of the Scriptures. When we say that we are going to Heaven, what does that mean and what will it be like? When we trade this temporary tent that we call a body for that mansion that He went back Home to prepare for us, what does that mean?
What will you do at the Heavenly Awards Ceremony when you learn that you could have laid up for yourself treasures in Heaven like those who are getting their awards personally from the Lord Jesus Christ? What will do when He calls you name and you get nothing but a certificate of membership? Post-salvation Good Works is the key! A complimentary word in one language can be a total insult in another. Most children these days learn the slang use of a word long before they learn its literal meaning.
Sometimes, it seems the only sure way to insult someones is to give them a compliment. Meant to be an stealth insult it is received as a compliment. Most sitcoms are based upon the twisted use of words. Words and terms in the Bible are vital to understanding what God has done and how He expects us to respond. The basic word study procedure will require learning how a word is used, its etymology or what is its root, how was it used in the culture nd how has it morphed over time.
It is also important to consider the literature of the day in which a term is used.

Sometimes we just need to study what the Bible tells us about a word, phrase, or subject. The study of the individual words of the Bible is foundational and is known as doing an exegesis and is crucial for a clear understanding of God and a rich exposition when taught to others. Remember how we were taught to spell when we were students? Many of us were simply handed a list of words and told to write each word five times. We then had our Friday spelling test, after which we may have forgotten those very words.
And remember how we were taught to decipher new words we encountered when reading? Not only do these precepts lack reliability, but the teaching of rules is not really the best way to help our students learn. We learn best by active involvement and practice with the task at hand, which allows us to see word and letter patterns for ourselves. I have always loved the words mystic and mystical. To many, the words have to do with religion outside of the God of the Bible. The latter are what I would call Biblical mystics. When properly defined, the mystic is opposed to the philosopher by the fact that he begins from within, whereas the philosopher begins from without.
The Christian mystic starts from his inner being and deals with God filling the totality of his being--spirit, soul and body. How are they used, where did they come from and why did God choose to use it in that portion of Scripture as opposed to the other words that may mean something close to it or the opposite of it?
That way we will find more depth in His Word than ever before. You just need to know what to look for. But why would you want to make the effort? It was that way for me. Slice it any way and he was right. I was given permission to ask questions and to give answers of my own. It was there and on the campus of Baghdad University that I had the rare privilege from God to share and proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ to him and the faculty at Baghdad University.
Though discovering your own spiritual gift will no allow you to stand before Sadaam or any of his former officials, it will allow you to stand before the people in your worlld and display Christ in you in such a way that those who have been in your presence will know that you are the visible display of the otherwise invisible God. He could have called ten thousand angels, but He, instead, chose to you the likes of you and me. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. Romans a. You will find twenty different Greek words used for the gifts listed in the key passages on spiritual gifts. The gifts are given to build up the Body of Christ 1 Cor. We get all of our knowledge on Spiritual Gifts from the following passages: Romans 12, 1 Peter 4, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 4. The New Testament word for spiritual gifts is charisma or charismata. Charis means grace, so a spiritual gift is a grace gift or a grace oriented gift. This word occurs seventeen times in the New Testament.
Some gifts are permanent in the church and some are temporary: This distinguishes between those that were temporary for the establishing of the early church, and those that are still given today. Spiritual gifts help answer the two nagging questions that most of us have to deal during our lifetime. You will never see a puppy contemplating its existence or a cow wondering how to give more milk and market its dairy products more successfully.
As part of the process, evaluating our gift and training it is very important. Use any spiritual gift analysis is a tool rather than an end. Test the results through prayer and further experience in ministry areas utilizing the gifts you are said to possess. Spiritual gifts are often best corroborated by spiritual friends who know and love you. In the life of the local church there are two major problems related to the subject of spiritual gifts.
The first is that far too few Christians are involved in any kind of ministry. They conceive of themselves as spectators rather than participants. We shall assume that on the basis of our study in Ephesians you would no longer consider this a viable option. A second problem is with those who are actively involved in the ministry of the local church, but who are not functioning in a ministry which corresponds to their spiritual gifts. Their dilemma is illustrated by the story of a certain sea captain and his chief engineer who were having an argument as to which one of them was the more important to the ship.
Failing to agree, they resorted to the unique idea of swapping places. The chief ascended to the bridge, and the captain dived into the engine room. After a couple of hours, the captain suddenly appeared on the deck covered with oil and soot. Perhaps one reason why so many have chosen to do so little or nothing in the way of ministry in the local church is because they have seen how frustrated those are who are striving to accomplish tasks they were never intended to attempt.
The primary qualification for most tasks in the church is a willingness to try, or at least too little fortitude to turn down the job. The solution to both these problems is a proper understanding of the subject of spiritual gifts. You will understand that many books on the subject of spiritual gifts have been written and that no one message will deal with every important issue. But it is my contention that Bible expositors have often made of this subject something far more mystical and mysterious and complicated than it really is.
And you know that if there is anyone who can look at a matter with simplicity, it is me. My friends often remind me how simple I really am! For various reasons, many have played down the importance of knowing your spiritual gift. The prominence of spiritual gifts in Scripture. One of the ways we can measure the importance of a principle or a doctrine is to determine the amount of space devoted to it in the Bible.
Subjects or doctrines which are merely implied are surely of less significance than those clearly stated. Matters mentioned infrequently should not be regarded as crucial as those frequently dealt with. Using this standard of measurement, the subject of spiritual gifts is a vital one, for we find gifts addressed specifically in four major portions of Scripture: 1 Corinthians chapters ; Romans chapter 12; Ephesians chapter 4; and 1 Peter chapter 4.
In addition to these central passages, spiritual gifts are mentioned elsewhere in the Bible. Spiritual gifts must be important to the Spirit of God Who inspired the writing of the Word of God and thus they should be important to us. The elementary nature of spiritual gifts. When the book of First Corinthians was written, it was addressed to those who were obviously not very mature in the faith. There were many forms of carnality cited by Paul in this epistle. Due to the emphasis on spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians, we conclude that the doctrine of spiritual gifts is important and that it is foundational and fundamental to the Christian life.
Spiritual gifts are a matter of individual stewardship. When Peter spoke of spiritual gifts in his first epistle, he considered them a matter of personal stewardship. As each one has received a spiritual gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold Grace of God 1 Peter Peter meant that just as we must give account of our use of the material things God has placed under our control, and just as we must give account of the use of our time, so we must also be accountable for the use of our spiritual gifts.
Now it is very hard to be a good steward of something we know nothing about, and of something which we do not even know we possess. If you were given the responsibility of managing the assets of someone else, the first thing you would do is to take inventory of what resources were at your disposal. You would demand to know what assets you were to use wisely. So, also, the Christian cannot be a good steward in the matter of spiritual gifts without knowing what his gifts are:. Spiritual gifts are of such great practical value to the Christian he simply cannot afford to be ignorant in this matter.
Let me suggest some areas of practical benefit. Knowing your Motivational Spiritual Giftwill enable you to find your place of ministry in the local church. Since every Christian has a particular function in the body of Christ, and since your spiritual gifts equip you to carry out this function, knowing your gifts help you to plug in to the ministry of a local church.
Knowing your Motivational Spiritual Gift will enable you to determine your priorities. One of the most common problems we all face is having more things to do than we have time to do them. Paul indicates in Romans chapter twelve, verses six through eight, that we should make the use of our spiritual gifts a priority in our lives.
In simple terms, when we have too many things to do we must choose to function in the area of our spiritual gifts. You must know your spiritual gifts to set these priorities. To extend our last point just a little bit further, knowing your Motivational Spiritual Gift can be of great help in discerning the will of God. There is a very distinct relationship between knowing the will of God Romans and understanding your spiritual gift Romans Probably the simplest definition of a spiritual gift would be this: A spiritual gift is the God-given capacity of every Christian to carry out his function in the body of Christ.
The thrust of the first half of Ephesians chapter four is that the effective functioning of the body of Christ is dependent upon the contribution of each individual part of the body. Spiritual gifts enable us to carry out our task within the body of Christ in a way which no one else can. Using the analogy of the physical body in 1 Corinthians chapter twelve, Paul reinforced this same concept.
Every part of the body is essential to the well-being of the body. When one member fails to do his part, the body suffers. There are two important corollaries to this truth that spiritual gifts equip the Christian to carry out his unique contribution to the body. First, spiritual gifts are not primarily given to benefit the individual, but the entire body. Perhaps this is the most serious criticism of the contemporary tongues movement. Not only has one gift been exalted above all the others, but the primary purpose of this gift seems to be self-edification.
Second, if spiritual gifts are given to enable us to carry out every essential function of the body then we should expect spiritual gifts which correspond to every function described in the Scriptures. This is precisely the case. While we can see that all are to engage in the exercise of these functions, there are gifts which overlap these functions. It is those who are gifted in these various capacities who will excel in this particular function. If for every area of ministry there are those specially qualified for that ministry, it is vital to that ministry that those specially gifted in that area should be involved in that ministry.
In order to accurately describe the nature of spiritual gifts we will make two major assertions, both of which appear paradoxical. Until we understand the truths contained in these paradoxical statements, we shall not understand spiritual gifts. Spiritual gifts intertwine the Divine and the Human. To view spiritual gifts in a merely human dimension leads to a gross misunderstanding of their Divine element.
Each gift is a manifestation of the Spirit 1 Corinthians In addition to the divine element in spiritual gifts is the human counterpart. The gift of teaching involves the study of the lesson and the preparation of what is going to be taught. Administration involves sitting down and making plans, calling meetings and evaluation of progress. The gift of giving includes the making of the money, the choice of where it is to be distributed and the actual follow-through of giving.
It has been said that spiritual gifts must not be confused with natural talents, and surely we must agree. But we must also insist that spiritual gifts not be divorced from natural talents and abilities. In Psalm , we are reminded that it was God who fashioned us in the womb. Whatever our capabilities or weaknesses, they were given to us by the omniscient God who designed us not only in the matter of spiritual gifts, but also in the matter of talents and abilities to carry out a certain task. Human abilities alone will never produce eternal fruit, but our abilities when empowered by the Holy Spirit can bring about spiritual fruit.
It is no accident that Billy Graham is a gifted speaker in the human sense. But there are countless gifted speakers who have never seen a soul won to Christ. Finally, spiritual gifts should be viewed on the human plane in that they, just as natural talents and abilities, must be developed.

One may have the gift of teaching but that gift needs to be developed, perhaps by seminary studies, certainly by some kind of training and much experience. Paul told Timothy,. Perhaps the best analogy of this interweaving of the divine and the human in the matter of spiritual gifts is that of the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He was fully human and yet at the same time He was fully God. Divinity and humanity in one person. So also the Scriptures are the work of both God and men. Men spoke and wrote, revealing their backgrounds, education, personalities and styles, and yet these men were moved along by the Holy Spirit in such a way that every word these men wrote was the Word of God 2 Peter ; 2 Timothy Spiritual gifts produce unity through diversity. Most Christians have failed to grasp the great diversity revealed in spiritual gifts.
The key text is found in 1 Corinthians chapter And there are varieties of ministries, but the same Lord. Individuals react to given situations in the light of their gifts. The gift of mercy responds by concentrating on cleaning up the mess, the gift of giving offers to pay for another meal, the gift of exhortation seeks to cheer up the waitress. The gift of administration delegates and organizes the whole matter to avoid confusion.
The gift of teaching suggests some ways to avoid a recurrence of the problem. Your spiritual gift makes you sensitive to certain needs that others may not perceive. Do what you see needs to be done. Want to allow Christ to flow through you daily? Devote yourself to what you do best. When you once begin to meet the needs which you see you will quickly discover that you do some things better than others. As I have said before, the fact that you do not do some things very well is no indication that you are to cease altogether in that area. But this will be a clue as to where you should concentrate your efforts.
On the basis of your own evaluation and the suggestions of those you respect, begin to devote more time and energy to the things you do best. This leads to the development of the gifts which you possess. Whatever opportunities come up which will aid you in enhancing your spiritual gifts, make the most of them. You may learn that a job change will help you develop your gift. For example, if your gift is teaching, you may well consider a teaching occupation that will enhance your abilities in teaching.
If you are particularly skillful in counseling, you may be able to find a job that gives you additional opportunities to develop this ability. You were raised from death with Christ. So live for what is in Heaven, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Focus your energies on thinking only about what is up there, not what is here on Earth. Yes, Christ is now your life, and when He comes again, you will share in His awesome glory. Colossians DLT. The Elohim is the Name given for God as the Creator God and implies unprecedented, exceptional, extraordinary and unheard-of Strength, Power and Creativity.
Day after day, they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. And He did all out of nothing and merely had to speak everything into existence. The Heavens declare the full Glory of God. Consider this--if the diameter of our planet Earth were a tiny, tiny period in this text. There are approximately 80 billion galaxies in the known Universe; 80 billion. In the past God spoke to our ancestors at many different times and in many different ways through the prophets. In these last days he has spoken to us through his Son.
God made his Son responsible for everything. His Son is the one through whom God made the universe. He holds everything together through his powerful words. After he had cleansed people from their sins, he received the highest position, the one next to the Father in Heaven. The Son has become greater than the angels since he has been given a name that is superior to theirs.
Hebrews GW. Think about what a tiny speck of dust the entire Earth is compared to His Greatness. Who helped Him create all that He did? Who could ever have told GOD what to do or taught him his business? What expert would he have gone to for advice, what school would he attend to learn justice? What god do you suppose might have taught him what he knows, showed him how things work? Why, the nations are but a drop in a bucket, a mere smudge on a window. Watch him sweep up the islands like so much dust off the floor!
Isaiah MSG. Before the entrance of created amn, how easily He executed His Purposes. The water drop in the bucket has no power, and compared with the waters of the ocean it is but a joke. All the waters in the world fill less that the hollow of His Hand--even the littlest tiniest mark. All created things shrink to nothing in comparison with the Creator.
He is far more Glorious, He is far more Powerful and far more Wise than we could ever imagine or understand. Since our Lord and Savior Jesus created this magnicificent Universe, from every atom and molecule to the most massive galaxies, to the black holes in outer space. And to think He did it by speaking it all out of nothing. Ex nihilo--out of nothing! What an incredible, awesome God the Bible tells us about in such succinct terms that are so beautifully and clearly expressed. When the electrical power goes out at night it becomes pitch black. You could open your eyes, close your eyes, and it made no difference.
But when the power comes back on, the light makes things visible. Without light, we walk around not knowing what is going on. So light makes things visible. In the same way, everything is visible to God because God is Light. O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Psalm God is omniscient; which means that He knows every and is surprised by nothing. He knows everything. God is light; everything is visible to Him.
Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. He can clearly see all things. Everything is open before him. And to him we must explain the way we have lived. Hebrews ERV. Light is pure. Because in Him there is no darkness at all. Because of His nature God is opposed to murder and hatred and racism and our selfishness and pride and adultery and rape and robbery.
One of the metaphors the Bible uses is that God relates to us like a father relates to his children, but another metaphor the Bible uses is that God relates to us like a husband relates to his wife. God is just. The Bible is very clear on this. I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Scatterings: Three Striking Ideas from Ch. 16 of Perelandra
Unlike the founders of many other religions, Jesus did not live a happy, long and prosperous life. He died when He was 33 years old. Later that night, Jesus was arrested by the Romans and the religious leaders. You thought you were something special. You thought you were the Chosen One of God, the Messiah. But look at you now. Remember that crucifixion is a horrible death. You are lead to a rough-hewn splintered cross and nailed to it and you die horribly, agonizingly of suffocation.
Do you know who I am? By being cast into the Lake of Fire we would be getting what we deserve. But this man Jesus has done no wrong. He died and they took him down off the cross, buried him in a tomb, and rolled a stone over the entrance. His crucifixion was not the end of the story, however.
They found a risen Savior. They found Jesus, alive. It took that to pay for our sins. Please forgive me though I do not deserve your forgivenness. What do you think Christianity is? There are certainly rules in the Bible. But Christianity is primarily the good news of what God has done on our behalf through Jesus. And our only response is to fall on our knees and praise the mercy and kindness of the God who does all these things for us.
God would rather lose his own son than lose us. That is the message of the gospel. It is the only way to be reconciled to God and if we accept it, it will utterly transform us. If not, why not? When Christ, who is your Life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in Glory. Colossians When shall that life of glory be manifested?
These words do speak of the time when the Exchanged Life of the Believers shall be revealed, and that is, when Christ shall appear in Glory. I have in some other place observed from these words this point—namely, that the Lord Jesus Christ is the very Life of the Believer. He is ZoaLife from the Father. Jesus Christ is the Exerciser and Animator of the spiritual life of every Believer. For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have said anything about another day. So that there is still a Sabbath-keeping for the people of God.
For the man who comes into his rest has cease from his own works, as God did from His. Hebrews DLT. We died to our former nature making total victory over the flesh patters of that false identity possible through reconciliation. God is everything to me He is the last thing on my mind when I doze off at night , He is on my mind when I am awaken in the middle of the night and He is on my mind when the first light of the dawn awakens my eyes each and every day.
No matter how I try sometimes to work things out on my own, it just never works out. He and He alone is worthy of this and I long to be in His Presence. He is my Shepherd - He leads me through every circumstance and situation of every day. He is my Provider - He takes care of my physical, my emotional, my spiritual and my material needs every day.
He is my Strength - He enables me to work through even the toughest trials, because He has already been there. He is my Shield - He puts a hedge of protection around me every day of my life. He is my Comfort - He forgives me of my sin when I ask Him and encourages me every day. We could play this game forever and still not express all of who He is in our lives. He and He alone is our God. That means God in my living There in my breathing God in my waking God in my sleeping God in my resting There in my working God in my thinking God in my speaking God in my hoping There in my dreaming God in my watching God in my waiting God in my laughing There in my weeping God in my hurting God in my healing Christ in me You are everything Christ in me You are my only Hope Be my everything How often I have to remind myself that everything revolves around the Son and not around me.
I know that to be true, but when trouble comes I find it a very hard thing to practice. I forget sometimes that everything I have is on loan and that God is the one who has given me good health, a beautiful family, genuine friendships, an apartment decked out with stuff, a car, his Word, the privilege of living in America, and the ability to use my gifts and talents every day.
Beware that you do not forget Jehovah your God, in not keeping His commandments, and His judgments, and His statutes, which I command you today, lest when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and lived in them, and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart might be lifted up, and you might forget Jehovah your God who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slaves.
Deuteronomy MKJV. I laughed over and over because they were so cute. I loved watching their expressions and movements as they learned a little bit more about lie.

And it occurred to me once again, that their little lives were a gift from God--a trustfund--that I must continually give back to God knowing that soon they will be gone and on thier own. Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones; whoever is dishonest in small matters will be dishonest in large ones. If, then, you have not been faithful in handling worldly wealth, how can you be trusted with True Wealth?
And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to someone else, who will give you what belongs to you? Luke GNB. When the Pharisees, a money-obsessed bunch, heard him say these things, they rolled their eyes, dismissing Him as hopelessly out of touch with the real World, never even considering that they they were the ones who lack wisdom and common sense. What society sees and calls monumental, God sees through and calls monstrous.
The MSG. This is a maxim that universally hold true. A man that shows fidelity in small matters will also in large; and he that will cheat and defraud in little things will also in those involving more trust and responsibility. Fidelity is required in small matters as well as in those of more importance. We cannot serve God and the world, so divided are the two interests. Throughout history, people have anguished over the fundamental questions of human life and the Universe without arriving at satisfying answers. Throughout history, people have anguished over the fundamental questions of human life and the existence Universe without arriving at any satisfying answers.
She regarded God as a stern and severe Being. She banters with Job and makes fun of his faith. Through her, the satan provokes Job to curse God for smiting him with boils. Job was terribly afflicted, and apparently dying; yet his soul was filled with gratitude to God. The disease with which Job was plagued was very sickening. The satan smote him with boils, sore boils, all over his body from head to toe. Even Lazarus had some ease from the tongues of the dogs that came and licked his sores; but poor Job had no such help or comfort.
His children and servants are all dead and his wife remains unkind. He had to fend for himself. Nothing makes the ungodly so angry as to see the godly under trial not angry. Only a risen Savior can make sense of all the madness and sadness that sourrounded Job and now surrounds us. Without Him, life is meaningless and empty. With Him and only in Him, we live and move and have our being. He wants to be our entire Universe. Will you choose to let Him be your Life? When we say that Jesus is our Life, we are declaring that He is our Universe.
Without Him we are a dead man or a dead woman. It is imperative that we declare Him as the very Epicenter of our Being and the very Locus of our Life here on the Planet. SINCE you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in [the splendor of His] glory. So kill deaden, deprive of power the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry the deifying of self and other created things instead of God. It is on account of these [very sins] that the [holy] anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of disobedience those who are obstinately opposed to the divine will , Among whom you also once walked, when you were living in and addicted to [such practices].
But now put away and rid yourselves [completely] of all these things: anger, rage, bad feeling toward others, curses and slander, and foulmouthed abuse and shameful utterances from your lips! Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old unregenerate self with its evil practices, And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image the likeness of Him Who created it.
There is no room for and there can be neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, [nor difference between nations whether alien] barbarians or Scythians [who are the most savage of all], nor slave or free man; but Christ is all and in all [everything and everywhere, to all men, without distinction of person]. Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference a grievance or complaint against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive]. And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].
And be thankful appreciative , [giving praise to God always]. Let the word [spoken by] Christ the Messiah have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts. And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him.
Wives, be subject to your husbands [subordinate and adapt yourselves to them], as is right and fitting and your proper duty in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives [be affectionate and sympathetic with them] and do not be harsh or bitter or resentful toward them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke or irritate or fret your children [do not be hard on them or harass them], lest they become discouraged and sullen and morose and feel inferior and frustrated. Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily from the soul , as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward.
For he who deals wrongfully will [reap the fruit of his folly and] be punished for his wrongdoing. Like it or not, as a Christian you are running a marathon. The first two decades of the fifth century B. These were the years of the Persian and Greek wars. The powerful Persian Empire in B.
Greece on the other hand, consisted of a scattering of independent city-states, called poleis. These early city-states spawned the democratic ideas that have persisted into modern times. Athens eventually became the largest and most prosperous polis. Another Greek polis, Sparta, was not so democratic. They kept their kings and maintained a conservative, regimented society built around military training and the art of war. The Athenian Army was outnumbered 4 to 1 but they launched a surprise offensive thrust which at the time appeared suicidal. The surviving Persians fled to sea and headed south to Athens where they hoped to attack the city before the Greek Army could re-assemble there.
Phidippides was again called upon to run to Athens 26 miles away to carry the news of the victory and the warning about the approaching Persian ships. Despite his fatigue after his recent run to Sparta and back and having fought all morning in heavy armor, Phidippides rose to the challenge. Pushing himself past normal limits of human endurance, the reached Athens in perhaps 3 hours, delivered his message and then died shortly thereafter from exhaustion.
The bible and Quran are the 2 most racist books in print. They were both written by scared people who never knew god but were trying to lead people on, trying to deceive. The original New Testament was quite accurate and taught love. They were added by a racist sexist homophobic church in the 3rd century.
Yes Jesus did call a woman a dog. God has created this world for you to live in. He gave you food to eat and water to drink. And do you know what, he even provided the recourses for you to right this article. By you writing this article and writing it against God and the Bible, this is just made the devil very happy.
Romans If God is for you, then who could be against you. I do not think you understand the definition of the word truth as you use it in the last paragraph. You have it all wrong. God speaks to you when you read so you can understand and people can not take his word and use it to their advantage. God did not want anyone to marry them because they were not believers and wicked. God does not want us to marry unbelievers because it just makes more unbelievers and wicked people.
I think it would help you to just pray and ask God yourself, because it is way to easy to misinterpret the bible and twist it. It says the Old Covenant is obsolete. How did you miss that?????????? Robert you are stupid and ignorant when it comes to the Bible and politics i hope you lazy ass democrats got what you wanted us working cant afford our insurance but wont give up on working while you lazy ass democrates lay on your asses all day doing nothing but drawing goverment checks and getting free health care while the rest of the working class cant afford our insurance and are getting fined we cant even afford our rent and food anymore because all this bullshit.
I wish to say firstly that The Heavenly Father, Christ His Son and the Holy Ghost need not any created thing or one to defend them, for anything contrary, cannot withstand the collective Him, neither singularly. But I would say it is for that very reason the Love of God is so perfect, because when His perfect creation, that is mankind in His imagery and likeness, succumbed to corruption, God sought only to make ways to restore His creation to a state wherein He can again commune freely with them without inadvertently destroying them. See also Colossians The Old Testament was filled with genocide and all sorts of horrendous acts.
Moses ordered the Israelites who defiled themselves to kill their own family! The Israelites required cleanliness as a way to protect themselves from more powerful nations. Today is a different world. They lost the mission. God Bless And have mercy up on your souls!!!
The greatest turning point in all of human history was when some men said they was or heard God, an invisible being, communicating with them, and then convinced others of following them for the centuries to come. Virtually all religions started that way, a man never a woman claiming to have heard voices from above. And yet, we argue and quarrel over what that man heard or saw thousands of years ago. Almighty God is ultimately Father of all creation. Do you feel a sense of pride whenever they exhibit your traits? Do you love them? Initially Heavenly Father created us in His expressed image in the earth and He loved us.
Did you feel an inherent urge to correct them for their benefit or did you feel moved to utterly destroy them and start over? So it matters not anymore where they maybe or in whose company so much so that instead of them being the one influenced, they become and are the influencers. Please listen to Dennis Prager and others on why the ancient Israelites were commanded by God to stay pure and to annihilate some groups of people in the promised land.
This is why God ordered their destruction. Do you see the hypocrisy in that. Dennis of course lays this out much better than I. I agree with you. The Bible can easily be miss-interpreted if it is not read in the context in which it is written. The verses before and after have to be understood because there maybe different and understandable situations which cause certain things to be said. Some verses should not be left on there own.
That is special pleading. I could make the same claims about any text, including the Koran. So it works both ways, or not at all. It deals with much more than a child throwing a temper-tantrum or needing correction during a difficult time in their life. In the context of both the Old Testament and New Testament references the subject matter is about showing respect toward the parents and ultimately showing respect toward God.
People put kids on a pedestal if a child has done wrong especially in cursing your parents you deserve death Jesus agrees but thru repentance and prayer we can find mercy. This appears to be the preserve of the religious. I look forward to reading your enlightened perspective. Oh,and I sincerely hope your reply will not simply be vacuous opinion.
No problem. My friend did you even read that verse before you questioned me about it? If you actually did you should have seen that the very next verse gives the answer that you asked me to supply. The directive against the Ammonites and Moabites was because of how they, as a nation, had treated the children of Israel. It had nothing to do with their race.
Imagine if I said that no English person could join my religion because of the way the English had treated the Irish in the past. Likewise blaming all Ammonites and Moabites for the actions of some is racist. Again — it had nothing to do with race as the context plainly shows. You lose, again. Its interesting how you use the word racist, and then use the word Ethnic. Are they the same thing? That is what I came up with. I find it interesting to note that the modern definition of race has roots in evolution.
For if we are evolved from the animals then it would make sense that we are different species and sub species perhaps. Then yes I understand racism. But I believe in Creation, and that I have no link to an animal, vegetable, or a mineral or such like. I am a woman, a descendant of mankind. As such race and racism has no sense, meaning, or practical application. Whatever word you prefer to racist, you can use that one.
Your such a hater for God. What has God ever done to you to make you hate him. He is all about love. God never intended for there to be racism in this world and besides you misinturpert it wrong. It was us, his creation that made it happen. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit that was bad they had sinned, cursing this world. He loves every little thing about you, he created you in his image. The only reason you can write this is because of God himself. When you eat your next meal think of God, when you drink your next drink think of God, when type you next word think of God and how you got to write it.
Do you know that God is everywhere, even as your reading this he is there. He was there when you took your first step, when you grew your first hair and even in your proud moments he was there. He has been happy for you, proud for you and as you probably write something to try to put me down, be hurtful like you have been to everyone else and prove God wrong he is sad for you, but sad because he loves you. Jesus came from the line of David which included gentiles.
Read Jonah 4. It explains that the Israelites were racist, but God was not. Then read about Samuel and you will find that Samuel married pagan women who caused him to worship idols. God loves all races because we were all made in His image.
He just requires them to repent. I stand corrected. Could you then explain why Yahweh commands them not to abhor the Egyptians? I agree, it is a non issue. While all atheists myself included realise that no atheist would argue these points from any other basis, it should be stated up front that the only reason they are arguing this issue is because believers consider such characters real, and regularly act in a manner conducive to this belief. So while I acknowledge my error regarding interpretation, the content and the characters it refers to is all nonsense; As is any reference to Moses, or Hebrews being in Egypt as per the Pentateuch.
I reiterate. Atheists do not believe any of it. So much for keeping comments free of vacuousness, because last time I checked the issue was about trying to make the Bible say something that it does not — and the author failed miserably at it. If you change your mind about the conversation offer that I made earlier, it still stands. This is ridiculous. It is merely a piece of literature. And bad literature at that.
What I do find is, most Christians are completely ignorant of its origins and composition and very few ever even read it. Oh, and the bible is not true, either. Not in the sense of being historically accurate. Not to speak for Robert, but I have already answered the question regarding why atheists engage believers over biblical issues: simply because believers are under the inculcated and misguided belief that it contains factual history and the central characters, including Yahweh, Jesus of Nazareth and Moses were real, and sadly base their worldview on such fallacious content.
We will always talk past each other unless you are able to consider that what you believe is due to cultural indoctrination and be prepared to examine the falsifiability of your beliefs. Where do you live? I believe you are lying to yourself, because multiple atheists hate the Bible and consider it to be a hateful piece of literature. And yes you can hate literature. I despise Shakespeare. Only fools hate. But hate? Wast of emotion. It is merely a stupid collection of ancient documents.
Hi, nice to meet you! Arkenaten, are you willing to adopt the same state of mind in the debate? If not, forget I replied. I was listening arkenaton until you just made a total idiot of yourself by arguing the history of the bible. The atheist view that Christ and many other historical figures have never existed has been soundly repelled so often that only one with serious mental perceptions would go on insisting in this fallacy. Name a single contemporary source that references the biblical character Jesus of Nazareth? Eugene why are you here? You have contributed nothing to this debate, instead you have been throwing insults from your very first comment.
You have convinced yourself that I am hateful and stupid compared to you, so why do you hang around? Either add to the debate or just get out. Do you really believe that? Ignorance is bliss. Look at the comment thread and the dates in which I made my replies. And I never called you stupid. Nor does talking about something indicate it is true or false. I looked at your very first comment and even then you began by not discussing my post but accusing me of being blinded by hate. Hardly a valuable contribution. I agree.
While the Old Testament was indeed jew-centric, the nt made the word of God inclusive of everyone, nullifying any past anti-gentile prejudice. Religion like love is a cause that make people blind. If you think carefully, and read the Bible properly and without any bias, you will see that the Bible is full of racism. Well, without doubt, there is a God somewhere. But he does not behave like the one we find in the Bible.
Ethnic cleansing is racism. Calling people from other races dogs, is equally an act of racism. Jesus does that. Thanx Jesse and your right but calling someone a dog in the context of proving that is wrong and unloving is not racist. Read the entire story in its literal sense. But thanks for sharing. Jesus had a mission it was to die and be raised from the dead God incarnate for the remission of sin for all who ever and who will ever exist that believe that this is so..
He accomplished this mission it was to finalize the truth that simple truth.. Before that victory over Satan many things were said and stories were told and some ,many are in the bible.. Jesus accomplished this victory over death.. Men inspired by God wrote the bible stories they are not perfect.. IF God himself would have written them they would be.. In the end God shed his blood that act is the culmination of all else that simple truth.. God wrote that in blood…. Thank you, this is exactly what I was thinking. This article completely ignores the context and just certain verses as well as historical and religious background.
Be ashamed. Like Robert, you are trying to use a verse so it fits your agenda instead of understanding the message of the Bible as a whole and in context. Atheism is spreading and religion is dead? If you take your bible seriously, then it says what it means and means what it says … no further rendition necessary. The New Testament places restrictions on men too.
This has nothing to do with interpretation — all of have to do is look at verse 23 which is the verse that sets the context. Simple as that. You may not like answer, but not liking it is not the same as it not being true. But theism even if you only count a belief in the God of the Bible still outnumbers atheism by leaps and bounds. That is the definition of misogynistic. This post and others that I commented on show this to be true. Because if you did, you would have read vs.
Just read vs. I read the context and it changed nothing. The context is simply explaining rules for church service, so the above quote is still accurate. I also read which merely relate to speaking in tongues and asking that people speak one at a time. There is no restriction on men. Is that the best defence you can offer? Despite your condescending tone, you have not added anything to the discussion or answered my points. The only point you proved is that you cannot answer my question. You have been commenting on this post for years.
The only reason I commented is because someone else replied to me. The difference is that I know what the Bible says in context. Women are never even told they need to love their husbands, only to honor them. As for the Canaanite woman, Jesus told her exactly what the people of the day would have expected Him to say, because He was trying to elicit a response, which He did.
And it was exactly what He wanted her to say. It proved her faith. The centurion understood authority and knew Jesus had authority to cast out demons and to heal, and all He had to do was to speak the words, and his servant would be healed though he was miles away. The common denominator btwn these two was that they were both Gentiles! Sin-consciousness makes it hard for us to receive from Christ. So these two were the only ones Jesus ever said had great faith. And every day more scientific discoveries and more archeological finds come to light that prove the Bible instead of proving modern scientific theories.
Every — single — day. Take the massive human genome project, for example. The time and money poured into that, just to be able to state with scientific backing that we all descended from one woman. As time has passed, people are finally beginning to look more closely at a faith that has hornswaggled millions over the years … and finding it lacking in so many ways they can no longer abide by its teachings.
I would like to ask a question, what was the bible, or sacred scriptures that was used by Jesus. If it was the Torah, Prophets and the Books, what was later called Old Testament, then why do we argue over books written long after Jesus and not even recognized or approved by him, that is what we call the New Testament now, noting that they were canonized by church leaders centuries afterwards?
The fastest way I can answer that would be by saying that the Torah given through Moses was never meant to continue in perpetuity Galatians And this is where i will say us. Dear Mr. Actually, it points out the lunacy of those modern Christians, who, in contrast to our daddies, granddaddies, and great-great granddaddies, think that racism is evil, and that anti-racism is good. The author of this article has used Scripture, without twisting it in any way to show that anti-racist attitudes, now prevailing in this culture, do not come from Christianity, but, from the government, and those who control it.
Fellow bible thumper? Must be looking for an Emmy or something. I am glad to hear this is all in the Bible. As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay. Even to the tenth generation, none of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord. You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods.
Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly. After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,.
And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place. And behold, one of the people of Israel came and brought a Midianite woman to his family, in the sight of Moses and in the sight of the whole congregation of the people of Israel, while they were weeping in the entrance of the tent of meeting. When Phinehas the son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose and left the congregation and took a spear in his hand and went after the man of Israel into the chamber and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly.
Thus the plague on the people of Israel was stopped. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Alright then, put those quotes into context. I await your reply. Easily done.
I guess you are ignorant of the fact that Moses married a black woman, by the way. The issue was not one of race. Rather, they were forbidden to marry because of the abominable religious practices those others embraced, such as sacrificing children in fire to Molech, as well as other abominations. When people lost sight of God and began to worship the planets, demons, and hero gods, they practiced horrifying acts of cruelty, obscenity, and perversion unnatural sexual acts.
Even sons and daughters were burned in the fire Leviticus ; 2 Kings ; 2 Kings ; 2 Kings ,31; 2 Kings ; 2 Kings ; 2 Chron. Many of the ancient nations shed human blood before their deities. Children were his victims. It was believed that all children not so dedicated would die in infancy. Dake Topical Index.
This is powerful. Please read my take on this issue of race. The forbidding of interracial marriage has more to do with not mixing culture and beliefs. Since we are assuming that God is real or I am assuming we are all assuming , then his desire to keep the Israelites away from the sinful culture of others is understandable. Besides a lot of interracial marriage happened, although not as many as you may think.
And that was all in Old Testament times — we have a much better deal now! He created the races, gave His blessing to the separate races, and then passed out clear instructions about how to deal with race issues — first among which is not to miscegenize. Dear Reverend Jack, If the anti-racist exegesis of modern Christianity is right, then 2, years of it, prior, was wrong. Nobody took anything out of context, here. Our Lord is a racist God. The Jewish people were the incubator for the Messiah; and the Messiah is truly the Savior of all people who call upon His name.
Without this, there would be no hope for any of mankind. Your treatment of the subject matter is erroneous and subjective. Jesus can change you. I dare you to give Him a chance! War against nations? Using the awfully flawed logic above, we were racists for going to war with Germany in WW2. Come on, guys. Try a little harder than this. This article is just a sad waste of font. Rather than relying simply on insults, could you please point out the parts of the article you disagree with? Where exactly are the problems and flawed logic? I believe the bible was written and edited throughout history by people who wanted the masses to believe whatever was popular at the time.
I believe in God unconditionally. It is purely erroneous to have such a conclusion after reading Numbers and Deuteronomy which completely speaks about something different. The chapter is centered around idolatry. We know this because in the Old Testament, some nations were associated with idolatry. This has nothing to do with race or ethnic grouping. God always compares people based on their belief spiritual relationship with him God and NOT on their cultural, ethnic or racial background.
This is the foundation of every human being. Praise God, you are so very close. Revelation is close. To add a simple note to the conversation… God the Father sent His son, Jesus Christ, to give His adored children a new message. Love God with your whole being, 2. Love your neighbor as yourself. Matt 7. You present a powerful argument however you fail to understand the circumstances of the times. According to most accounts the bible was written over two thousand years ago, society as a whole was completely different.
Wars were carried out differently then how they are until recently, back then if you waged war against another tribe, city or state you did not wage war only on the military but the citizens as well. The ancient Romans, Greeks and Persians also carried out mass murders and would wipe out the entire population may it be men, women and children. The survivors of the genocide would always be sold as slaves.
Where is your article expressing out rage over that. The Coliseum was built for slaves to fight and kill each other as well as wild animals. Has the Italian government ever expressed remorse for the siege of Jerusalem where the city was cut off, there are stories of mothers eating the flesh of their dead children due to hunger. After the walls fell thousand of people were executed and sold into slavery. If you wish to say that the bible is an immoral book then you must also categorize most of the the ancient civilizations that we base our modern society on.
Are you aware that the Greeks engaged in mass pedophilia while the boys were sent off to school and the gym. Further more you do pick and choose which lines from the bible you quote, when you say that the bible does not allow any one from any nation to convert. You mention the ban on Amon and Moab but you do not mention why that ban is in place. For that act they were eventually punished. You also do not quote when gd commands the Jewish people to love the converts.
Thats part of being God. If he did change his mind then what good is the Bible? Surely huge chunks would be out of date? Could I just ignore the entire Old Testament because society has changed a huge amount? We are not dealing with some small tribe thousands of years ago, we are dealing with what is supposed to be the chosen people lead by the creator of the universe. So its not being unfair to hold them to a higher standard. Why would the Italian government be responsible for the actions of the Roman Empire?
They are not the same thing. No we do not base modern society on the actions of tribes years ago. However people do live their lives directly based on the Bible. Look you need to realise the very obvious point that the Bible is supposed to be the perfect word of the creator of the universe from which all good things come. Racism is a culturally determined view.
What you call racism, God might call survival. In Christ Jesus, God provided the same way to salvation and the same benefits to all people, regardless of their race.

The problem was not race, but culture. Wow, some cultures are a cancer that need to be exterminated? What happened to God loves everyone? He loves everyone but does not mean He can not consume u in wrath. Even Soloman was influenced by his wives from other countries — their influence caused his faith to be diluted by idolatry.
And yes, believe it or not, there were Nephilim — see Genesis 6 — and some of those -ites Ammalekites, Jebbusites, Moabites, etc… were destroyed because they were not purely human. Strange but true. If God had not thrown Satat out of heaven, that realm would have been as corrupt and evil as ours is today. You get rid of the cancer to live in health. The various conflicts and massacres described in the OT are essentially tribal in nature, and usually between tribes of the same descent.
God raged against these people, and commanded his followers to attack them, for reasons that had to do with their behaviour, their differing religious beliefs, their perceived ideological transgressions and so on, not for any simple racial reasons. This is not to say such behaviour was moral or justified, but it is not racist. Or sexist. Or misogynist. Different tribes, different habits. So the thing is, RACE, is a somewhat subjective, relative, vague definition.
It is implying that some groups of people sharing certain characteristics in common are better than others. The first thing to understand in this discussion is that there is only one race—the human race. Rather, they are different ethnicities of the human race. All human beings have the same physical characteristics with minor variations, of course. More importantly, all human beings are created in the image and likeness of God Genesis God loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to lay down His life for us John God does not show partiality or favoritism Deuteronomy ; Acts ; Romans ; Ephesians , and neither should we.
Instead, for the most part, the Jews became proud of their status and despised the Gentiles. Jesus Christ put an end to this, destroying the dividing wall of hostility Ephesians All forms of racism, prejudice, and discrimination are affronts to the work of Christ on the cross. Jesus commands us to love one another as He loves us John If God is impartial and loves us with impartiality, then we need to love others with that same high standard.
Jesus teaches in Matthew 25 that whatever we do to the least of His brothers, we do to Him. Racism, in varying forms and to various degrees, has been a plague on humanity for thousands of years. Brothers and sisters of all ethnicities, this should not be. Victims of racism, prejudice, and discrimination need to forgive. Those who practice racism, prejudice, and discrimination need to repent.
Racism in the Bible — B. Netanyauh: War in Gaza! Deuteronomy Bible of Radovan Karadjic — Bosnian War! Bible of Tomislav Nikolic — Croatian War 4. Bible of George W. Bush — Nuclearwar in IraQ 6. Bible of Benjamin Netanyauh — War in Gaza 9. The Bible IS about war, though, many wars are not fought for godly reasons, as you carefully listed. Is this a discussion on the meaning of words or the meaning of messages? So why bother? What an enigmatic world! Hi I think you have picked all the least racist bits the old testament is pure racism it is the root of racism. But since the world has is suffering from chronic hitleritis those who know thought police themselves.
Cain killed Abel before he could get his leg over a woman and procreate but Eves third son Seth was quite a randy critter and he left kids everywhere. Noah was of Seth line and a red like Adam but noahs wife Naamah inwas as black as the ace of spades she popped out 3 boys ham the black one was said to be cursed as he popped cains blackness shem was a 50 50 as he was olive and Japheth got dads red haired traits. Us dopey Christians havnt got a clue but the shemites Arabs and Jews of shem they know a lot including the name of noahs wife.
Us dopey Christians say Cain killed Abel and God toured Cain or some rubbish like that but the shem boys have a lot better explanation when the lights went in the garden of Eden the mice came out to play or smart lizards more to the point poor old Eve thought it was Adam doing a bit of downstairs work but it turned out to be a horny serpent and Cain was born.
I pray that the God of heaven will not allow go in ignorance. You should not be saying such a thing like that. You have used one of the most obvious fallacies: ad hominem. Is there any knowledgeable content in your retort that can be seen as reputable? I go to church while feeding the hungry, going to school for my educational betterment, and clocking over hours of volunteerism to help make a difference in the world. Can you discredit this? To the author: Thank you for writing this. I am using it in my own personal document.
Email me at LillithSnake gmail. Five stars, two thumbs up, ten out of ten. Neilson has provided plenty of evidence, undisputable at that, to prove his point. I am neither Christian or Atheist, due to the fact that I cannot believe in something without viable proof. If you choose to believe, that is great. My goodness people, has religion truly blinded you this much?
Neilson has provided a great deal of evidence for his argument, while those who oppose his views have yet to submit a logical, rational argument. I like that he provided evidence; however, his facts are incomplete and therefore present a discriminated basis of argument for racism in the Bible. You cannot parse one part of something while including the other and expect everyone with a more complete knowledge of the topic to fully accept his fact. Your values do not include God whereas mine does, are your values wrong? Are my values wrong? If so, how can you invalidate my experience?
How can I confute your lack thereof? I have not read all the above statements other than the 1st one written. I would like to make a comment on your statement, Robert, you said about God telling his chosen people to destroy others. You really need to study why God told his people to destroy them. God is love and God is full of grace.
Although God is loving and merciful, he is also just. God does not allow evil to continue unchecked. The command to destroy these nations were both a judgment and a safety measure Deut 9: Until the end evil will be on this earth. God then will then judge us all. Get to know him Robert, and why he did and does what he does. He does love all, he made us all, but sin no matter how big or small, we have to learn from our mistakes so we will be better prepared for the future.
Just read, read and study, study. Do not stop learning. Be ready!!!! Sounds familiar?? Read your bible. Yeshua knew what your people would do his. I have studied religions. They are a complete waste of time. Nothing, to talk about here. However, I think there is a God. With my finite mind, like everyone else the finite mind that is.
I guess there are some people, who think there is no Infinite. If one does not think there is an Infinite. What else can I say? Do I know anything for sure? But, neither does anyone else! What say you concerning these examples of the goodness of God to every man? Most of them finish learning the Quran by heart when they are between years old. Even if we like to change it according our desire like all the other books are changed we cant, how can we change nearly 14 million Muslims heart? They all come from the same father Abraham and follow the same prophets of the same God, yet ironically the true enemies of God have succeeded in dividing us by forcing us to focus on our differences rather than our staggering similarities.
For more than fourteen centuries, scholars from Judaism, Christianity and Islam have been discussing whether or not the Prophet Muhammad pbuh could have indeed been a true prophet from the One True God. Was he the unlettered Prophet prophesied in the Old Testament? With the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls we now know that the vast majority of Gentiles were too Pagan to comprehend the true teachings of Jesus, and too heathen to comprehend the very Spiritually founded Gnostic teachings of Paul. As a tax collector, Matthew could only have become Torah observant and what has been described as ultra-Jewish, under the direct influence of his teacher and Master Jesus Pbuh.
Paul shows us with what complete indifference the earthly life of Jesus was regarded…. What is the significance for our faith and for our religious life, the fact that the Gospel of Paul is different from the Gospel of Jesus? The attitude which Paul himself takes up towards the Gospel of Jesus is that he does not repeat it in the words of Jesus, and does not appeal to its authority…. The fateful thing is that the Greek, the Catholic, and the Protestant theologies all contain the Gospel of Paul in a form which does not continue the Gospel of Jesus, but displaces it.
But then through Paul came a basic alteration. Paul draws attention away from imitating Christ and fixes attention on the death of Christ The Atoner. What Martin Luther. Paul made Christianity the religion of Paul, not of Christ Paul threw the Christianity of Christ away, completely turning it upside down. The writings of Paul have been a danger and a hidden rock. We make no distinction between one another among them and to Him Allah we have submitted Muslims in Islam Peace. And to Him shall they all be returned.
And who is more unjust than he who conceals the testimony i. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. I am the Messenger of Allah unto you confirming the Taurat Torah which came before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed.
But when he Ahmed i. And Allah guides not the people who are Zalimoon polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers folk. They intend to put out the Light of Allah i. But Allah will complete His Light even though the disbelievers hate it. He it is Who has sent His Messenger Muhammad Pbuh with guidance and the religion of truth Islamic Monotheism to make it victorious over all other religions even though the Mushrikoon polytheists, pagans, idolaters, and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah and in His Messenger Muhammad Pbuh hate it.
Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He told Angel Gabriel that he cannot read. The angel again told him to READ! He says again to the angel that he cannot read. And a third time the angel told him: READ! The Bible describes the coming prophet so that he can be recognized: in [Deuteronomy ] I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
Muhammad Pbuh is from among the brethren of Moses Pbuh. The words are therefore not his own. They did not come from his own thoughts. Muhammad Pbuh was unlettered, but were put into his mouth by the Angel Gabriel. The above proofs are very explicit without the need for further translations. However, there is a wealth of truth that exists in the original languages of the Bible and Torah that were intentionally or ignorantly lost in translation: Here is the exact Hebrew text in case you can read Hebrew.
Similarely im is added after the name of Prophet Muhammad Pbuh. And the rise of the Arab nation in Isaiah, xlii. John, xiv. Messiah translated Christ does not mean God. John John says: that the Holy Ghost is the Comforter. If this is the Holy Ghost or Holy spirit which new thing the Holy Spirit brought to us while Muhammad Pbuh came with New Revelation The Glorious Quran which more the verses in the Quran also speak about scientific facts which is discovered only recently and the New Law.
The claim is contrary to the plain and unambiguous words of John , wherein Jesus Pbuh says that his going away, i. So, the Comforter was someone other than the Holy Ghost. This also supports our assertion that there have been many interpolations in the existing Christian Bible. Why should we not apply this prophecy to any one of these Prophets, and why only to Jesus? Why should we make fish of one and fowl of another? Contrary to common belief, Muslims greatly revere the prophets and books of Christians and Jews. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus.
Hence, it was not a new religion brought by Prophet Muhammad PBUH I in Arabia in the seventh century, but only the true religion of Allah re-expressed in its final form. Islam is the religion which was given to Adam, the first man and the first prophet of Allah, and it was the religion of all the prophets sent by Allah to mankind.
It was chosen by Allah Himself and clearly mentioned in His final revelation to man. In fact, Christ was not even his name, nor was it Jesus! If man prays to a tree and his prayers are answered, it was not the tree which answered his prayers but Allah who allowed the circumstances prayed for to take place.
Jesus did not tell his followers to worship him but to worship Allah. More importantly, all human beings are equally created in the image and likeness of God Genesis Well you have completely misunderstood the Bible. God was indeed telling them to slaughter these tribes because they would become the ruling establishment. The Canaan- ites are the ones whom God cursed from the begining because of their love of money and sorcery. They would go on to form the banking system that has enslaved us to this day and thrown the world into endless wars and deception.
They also control the media. All these tribes would become the Illuminati and God knew their strongholds would be difficult to conquer in the future so He wanted them utterly wiped out for good reason. The Israelites were the only people who obeyed God and did His will. The others worshipped idols and consorted with demons and spirits which have created tyrannies on earth. They practised sodomy, paedophilia and child sacrifice much like today with the BBC scandals and God forbade His people from marrying into their tribes for good reason. All these Black Nobility families and aristocracy, the banking cartels and corporate mafia and secret societies are descendants of these cursed tribes.
The ruling elites are the fallen angels. God is against them all. One summer I was driving across the South, coast to coast and began listening to religious radio stations…. Because the educated Founders of the US knew that Christianity and religion causes hysteria, and is anti logic, anti reason, and in the end is an excuse to turn people into slaves of an imaginary god…who cannot speak for its self.
Let us keep the US free from religion Religions of all kinds have been the greatest tragedy of human kind.. Except for murder, slavery has got to be one of the most immoral things a person can do. Yet slavery is rampant throughout the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible clearly approves of slavery in many passages, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves. Many Jews and Christians will try to ignore the moral problems of slavery by saying that these slaves were actually servants or indentured servants.
The following passage shows that slaves are clearly property to be bought and sold like livestock. However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. Leviticus NLT. If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years.
Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master.
I would rather not go free. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. Exodus NLT. Notice how they can get a male Hebrew slave to become a permanent slave by keeping his wife and children hostage until he says he wants to become a permanent slave. What kind of family values are these? The following passage describes the sickening practice of sex slavery. How can anyone think it is moral to sell your own daughter as a sex slave?
When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment.
So these are the Bible family values! A man can buy as many sex slaves as he wants as long as he feeds them, clothes them, and screws them! What does the Bible say about beating slaves? When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. Exodus NAB.
You would think that Jesus and the New Testament would have a different view of slavery, but slavery is still approved of in the New Testament, as the following passages show. Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Ephesians NLT.
