They also have a website and this website also supportys local salons that focus on the curly hair. I recently read that adding oil to shampoo helps soften the hair and add shine. One of the oils recomended is Coconut which I have been using on my skin. It is great and increases the lather in the shampoo! I still need the extra part of conditioning but this has been a boon.

Hi everyone, I got the cappola keratin blow out express done last Friday. I immediately fell in love with my new hair the day it was done. The first day I washed it, it was ok. I blow dried it and it was kind of frizzy, but it only took about 15 mins to flat iron compared to the hour it used to take. It was a little less curly than natural but still frizzy. And this time it took a half hour to flat iron. Idk if it is because I got the express done and not the 6 month treatment?

Anyone have any ideas? Also I absolutely hate the shampoo and conditioner. I have the cappola brand. It totally does not make my hair feel clean. My hair smells like nothing. Does anyone know of any that keep your hair smelling nice? Or if I can use regular conditioner?

Either way, I would be irritated. Coppola Keratin Complex brand DOES have sodium chloride—which is why my salon stopped selling it even for its customers who elect the Keratin Complex treatment over the Brazilian Blowout. Should I return the product? La Jolla writer of post sais she s used this shampoo after the treatment… and I am so confused now.

Please help! My stylist recommended it too. Did you find a shampoo that works for you without sodium in it? Here is the truth: sodium chloride—whether in shampoo, sea water, or even just your sweat—WILL dissolve the keratin from your treatment. Moroccanoil Brand shampoo is NOT keratin-safe.

Dissertations & Theses from 2018

Read labels! How a stylist could recommend you use a shampoo containing sodium is beyond me. They also make a conditioner I use. This product can only be bought in salons. You can find a shampoo without salt in it. The salt will start to take away your treatment. Pretty expensive treatment to let go to waste. Hope that helps!!!!! La Jolla Mom, What is the shampoo you use for flakes?

I have the same problem—Brazilian done with flakes! It was by EcostoreUSA and I went to their website to look for the name but it says they are totally sold out of hair care. I want to say it was something like Manuka sp? It is SOooooooo expensive to fly over for her to do my hair literally hundreds of dollars that she sent me the keratin this time.

The first time she flew over to do it for me. I too am mixed. But not black and white must be black and something else as my hair is nappy and frizzy. I was adopted. Had my arms up as far as they could go. Also burned my head a few times with the flat iron. For me it only lasted 3 months. But those 3 months sure are NICE! I can actually comb my hair out without having to use straight olive oil on it AND get it wet. I really love having this blog site and have read every single one of the comments!

Aloha Antoinette Mele Kalikimaka. Oh by the way I did not get ANY shine as so many of the ads claim you are supposed to get. So I was hoping that the B Keratin would help this but on me; not. I have used the Organix brand from the drug store several times now and it comes out nice. I hate the straightening but it is worth it to me occasionally to have my hair take half the time to blow dry for several weeks.

Organix at rite aid or walgreens has a whole line of brazilian keratin products including the sodium and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Took me 2 years and a pair of strong reading glasses to find out. UV exposure and frequency in shampoo are the biggest factors in extending the hair process. Salon hair products are no different than the ones from a dug store for a third of the price.

My stylist told me no sulfates, even told me not to go swimming in salt water. My salon does not even sell the shampoo my stylist recommend I use. So, I have to disagree with what you are saying when it comes to my stylist. Thank you for telling me what brand your salon uses. I will ask my daughter what kind she sent me. Today is my 2nd day and I still have my keratin in. After reading all the posts I decided to flat iron again today since it had places that were not straight from sleeping on it. Even after I finished flat ironing it, it started to frizz and revert!

I can see why in Brazil they use the kind with lots of Fermahaldyde as those people also have curly and coase hair like mine. I am going to wait the days this time before washing it at all and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for writing me. I use it a couple times a day…. The Lasio is supposed to stay in for two days.

Four days is a lot. I was told the faster the product tells you to wash it out, most likely that means there is more formaldehyde in it. Mine lasted six months the last time I did it. I wonder if you should ask your daughter for a stronger Keratin product. One that washes out either the same day or the next.

OK, so you have more formaldehyde in it, but what you are looking for is smooth, frizz free hair. You need a stronger product. OOPS, one thing I forgot to say is…. I am also instructed to deep condition my hair with a keratin product once a week to keep the keratin working longer. I do that every other week. Com on the back, but I buy it at a salon. I put it in my hair when it is dry, I put a plastic baggie over it, I use a hair dryer on HOT for a few mins to heat it up then I wrap my head in tinfoil. Next time the salon switched to the formaldehyde-free Keratin Complex brand, and the next morning one lock kinked so I had to flatiron that section.

Switched salons and had all kinds of restrictions the first 4 days. My stylist reported everyone with the formaldehyde-free formula had the same complaint, so he switched back from Keratin Complex whose shampoos have salt to the original BB retrofitted the place with powerful ventilation, had everyone wear eye protection and he wore a mask. After the first shampoo, I find the straightness lasts longer if I put my hair up with a single clamp-type clip for sleep—keeps it off my neck and I might have just one small wave to smooth out in the morning. I never swim in salt water.

Giovanni is available cheaply in large pump bottles at Whole Foods. Other shampoos in hotels I take home to donate to shelters. Watch out for keratin overload—layering too many keratin-containing products can stiffen hair and cause breakage. And my salon does maybe 2 treatments a week. My stylist also told me no sulfates and swimming etc. I researched this a lot and did ask my stylist who told me that she is required to tell clients not to use sulfate in shampoos when she buys the products.

Hey Thank you ALL for responding! Everytime I read a new blog I learn somthing new! I ran right into the bathroom and flat ironed it for the 2nd time now today. Well stands to reason that while the product is still in the hair to keep it as flat and staight as you can. Especially with what I am working with. So this product is SO great for me. I did get the Oprah site and read every comment there too!

Hair fell out, Went bald etc. I think about the liability my daughter takes everytime she does someones hair. She has told me clients do lie about what they have done. She said usually she can always tell exactly what they have done in the past to their hair. Just think how NEAT this is to share infomation about this online. Years ago there was no such thing. I love watching the videos too on makeup artists and regular people doing the Saudia Arabian Eye Make Up.

There was one on mascara and people these days are using two or more different kinds of mascara at the same time to get these desired effects. So many things you can learn on the internet from real people. It is so neat. I just love this blog! I sat down and figured out exactly how long the keratin Tx worked for me the first time 2 months and 2 weeks. Or a watered down version? The one sold at Wallgreens? I love hearing from all of you and reading your commnets keep me posted. Also I did write my daughter to ask her the brand she uses. Aloha Antoinette.

Being an RN and having taken Chemistry I am pretty good at understanding the ingredients. It will be interesting to see what she has to say about things too. I will list the ingredients for everyone if you are interested. I am going to start doing that. I never thought about the salt water! I have a salt water pool I chose a salt water pool so I could swim and not have green hair from chlorine. I love to swim and I hate those caps. I still wake up everyday and look at my hair and notice how healthy it is!

My hair was so fried and bleached and colored that it looked like straw when it hit the floor after being cut. Now it looks like one of those color swatches that you see in the hair color isles. I am so happy that this product exists! Thank you to whom ever made it. Me by Kevin Murphy Shampoo and Conditioner to keep it up? Best to run out and get a sulfate free shampoo if you want your keratin to last.

Coppola lasted about three weeks on me. Was not happy. Switched to Lasio Keratin Treatment and it last months. The only keratin treamtent follow-up shampoo that I know has no sulfates or any of those harsh chemicals is the Pro naturals Moroccan Argan oil shampoo. They also have a conditioner. Please do not get Brazilian Blowouts.

They are dangerous for you because of the folmadehyde in it. One of the side effects which is not mentioned is that you can loose your hair. I had mine done 2. The shedding started right away. I shed more than normal and starting to see bald patches on my sides.

Manual Hair Loss and Shedding: A Quick and Dirty Guide (Guru Guides Book 5)

It is really sad to see your hair go down the drain everyday. Embrace your natural hair. Well guess what ladies? My hair has and continues to fall out too. Almost nothing left. No length and bald spots too. Or using the HCG injections to loose 60 lbs and all that fat that it took off too. Or if it is from the medicine I take or diabetes. What ever it is SAD and I am about ready to have to go the wig route.

Sign me Bummed Out too. Hormones and those drugs that reduce the estrogen in your body can mess with your hair big time. HCG is the hormone that is stimulates the ovaries to make more estrogen. Using HCG for weight loss is frivolous and dangerous it could even cause reproductive-system cancers and there are other albeit less dramatic weight loss methods that are safer. Using an aromatase inhibitor, however, is vital for postmenopausal estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer patients, and if your hair suffers so that you can SURVIVE, well, so be it. As to anti-diabetic meds, they too influence hormones either via fat loss or insulin function —but diabetes left untreated will kill you.

Also can I use natural Heena to condition and color my treated hair???? Please suggest. Well here I am again. I did my first Keratin Tx the real stuff from my daughter the licensed and working hair stylist. At first I too was very pleased. Even the 2nd time learned I had to get a blow dryer a step before using the flattener. Now my hair has all broken off and fallen out in a BIG way. The back middle is almost totally bald. It is just plain SAD. I should have known NOT to mess with my then long hair. But no I had to once again try stuff. So here I am not knowing if I will ever have my hair back.

I am ready for a wig.

The Elizabeth Holmes Theranos trial will start next summer

Sad but true. I used the tx a total of 3 times. From Dec to now Dec 5th Sorry I did now. Thanks for all the tips! Thanks a lot…! Thanks for sharing all these great tips on Keratin Treatment After Care. Last July i did the Brazilian treatment and started using the Milkshake sulphate free shampoo which i found brilliant for my flaky scalp too!!

Last month i decided to try out a different sulphate free shampoo and bought Goldwell which i found not good at all! Maybe you should try it out too…?? Where do you get it? Which product specifically for dry scalp? I have wavy, damaged hair that is very puffy, frizzy, and dry. I also love love love how it is cruelty free and sulfate free. While my hair was drying, I put some of the Shielo Oil on my ends. I woke up this morning and saw a huge difference. My hair is definitely less puffy, shinier, and feels so so so soft.

Anyone have any ideas? Also I absolutely hate the shampoo and conditioner. I have the cappola brand. It totally does not make my hair feel clean. My hair smells like nothing. Need I say more? This makes my hair incredibly soft and smooth after blow drying. I was very concerned about the formaldehyde, so I went ingredient by ingredient and looked it up on EWG.

This masque has not one ingredient that showed up as dangerous.
