This puts the difference between DRM-locked media and unencumbered media into sharp contrast. I have bought a lot of MP3s over the years, thousands of them, and many of the retailers I purchased from are long gone, but I still have the MP3s.
Likewise, I have bought many books from long-defunct booksellers and even defunct publishers, but I still own those books. When I was a bookseller, nothing I could do would result in your losing the book that I sold you. My books matter a lot to me. The idea that the books I buy can be relegated to some kind of fucking software license is the most grotesque and awful thing I can imagine: if the publishing industry deliberately set out to destroy any sense of intrinsic, civilization-supporting value in literary works, they could not have done a better job.

I was always a round person XD. See this in the app Show more. Top Photos. Recently Liked. Jun 17, Bookmuseuk rated it it was amazing. The types of sentences and words the writer uses are brilliant and the story line was gripping and exciting. It is about a girl called Kimi who has a 'Tulpa' called Bentley. She goes on an adventure to find out secrets about her life and herself that she never knew.
I really liked it when Bentley kept on changing his age because it was quite funny how he could just change ages so quickly. The story made you want to read on and I found it hard to put down. I really liked how the story linked together towards the end. I also really liked the 'Greylians' because they kept on changing and making you think they were nice, and their name is really exciting and peculiar. I think this book should be for older children - 11 years and up because it did have some fairly rude words.
It was a book that is definitely worth reading and I can't wait to see if there is another book in the series. Alia: One stormy night I was alone at home and I was bored out of my mind. As I walked into the dining room I saw a book lying on the table. I picked it up and went to my room. I sat down and started to read And WOW! That book was GOOD! I'm telling you, you will want to get that book or borrow or take or steal and sit down and read it It's about a girl called Kimi and it follows her through a big storm, through a cloud of crows, through quite a few twirlies, through a room with flying clowns, and then, oh, right back to the storm.
So I assure you, you will love this book. If you are 12 or it doesn't really matter. Although it's probably not much use to you if you're dead. Though I guess it's worth trying.

It can be quite difficult to understand the first part of the book until you have read the end. Although there are some strange names that can be quite hard to read, it is a perfect book to excite you. It is definitely a page turner and hooks you on the story line. Kimi is a very mysterious girl who is very wary, and conscious about the people and places around her. But to find out what a Tulpa is and who Bentley and Kimi are then read the book! This is a very good book because it draws you in right from the start and keeps you hooked throughout it!
It is one of the best books I have read and strongly recommend it.
If you like adventure and mystery then this book is definitely for you! You'll enjoy this if you liked: Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket Avoid if you dislike: Gross stuff, fantastical creatures and aliens Ideal accompaniments: Pommy juice and roasted dodo or birthday cake - just clean your teeth afterwards or the Famoose will get you.
Mar 29, JJ Marsh rated it it was amazing. It's Kimi's birthday tomorrow and she's hoping for some surprises, ideally in the shape of a pink limousine. But the surprises start early. A talking crow issues a scary prophecy and Kimi is whisked away to the very strange world of Heart, where the police are monkeys, dodo is the dish of the day, toads explode and no one would ever be stupid enough to wear pink. Kimi has a job to do and needs to learn how to use her mojo - fast.
Fortunately she has help from her friends and Adept Babbage, who ha It's Kimi's birthday tomorrow and she's hoping for some surprises, ideally in the shape of a pink limousine. Fortunately she has help from her friends and Adept Babbage, who has some truly gross personal habits. This is a crackling good adventure set in an imaginative world full of rich detail such as an obsessively clean Scotsman called Sue, fairy famoose who eat bad teeth and greedy greylians with appalling table manners.
The best thing about the book is its terrific sense of fun; the irreverent tone, the revolting stuff, the twists on Earth parallels and the distinctive character quirks that bring this altenative universe to life. It makes you laugh in the most unexpected ways. As for Kimi herself, she's funny, stubborn, inquisitive, interfering and brave, exactly the kind of heroine I love. This book will certainly appeal to young adult readers, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see adults sneaking downstairs after the kids are asleep to enjoy this story with a glass of Pommy Juice.
Feb 11, Jessica Smith rated it it was amazing. I had high expectations of this book and I wasn't disappointed. Upon the arrival of a creepy prophetic crow, little Kimi's world is turned upside down. Launched into the world of Heart, with its collection of wonderfully eccentric characters, ominous terrors and gruesomely magical events, Kimi has to overcome all kinds of odds - and so will you alongside her.
Exciting for adult or child alike this book will catapult you into another realm, with such colour and vibrancy you can't help but jump on I had high expectations of this book and I wasn't disappointed. Exciting for adult or child alike this book will catapult you into another realm, with such colour and vibrancy you can't help but jump on the rollercoaster with John Hudspith's mini heroine.
This book has a rich gothic edge to it which I loved.

The crows are dark, and terrifying. The meal of choice for the famoose fairies of a very different kind grossed me out perfectly. It really is a fully constructed, compelling read.

I loved it. I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but prepared to be engrossed enough to be propelled straight into book two. There is so much brilliance in this book for little people that I ordered two paper copies for children in the family. Needless to say, they are as absorbed as I was. Rich, imaginative, action packed The characters stay with you and I hope there will be many more adventures in store for Kimi. I'd love to see her grow into a feisty young woman one day! It's a book of two parts - the set up where ten year old Kimi is taken to the world of Heart and meets various magical creatures and so on and then a time travel yarn which, although it falls foul of Barjavel's Grandfather Paradox, is still great fun.
The first part is a little long, though I note it says to be continued at the end so I assume the details we were given that have no direct bearing on this story will come into play as the books progress - but the final pages pick up the pace as the time travel part kicks in.

As a reader I hardly had a chance to breathe, the pace is wonderful. Kimi is a normal girl — at least she thinks so until her imaginary friend for years ago turns up and wants to whisk her away to another world.
